Modern Kitchen Remodel With Quartz Island in Jacksonville, FL
For nearly 15 years, these Jacksonville homeowners talked about renovating their first floor. Their kitchen was dated, closed off from the rest of the home, and increasingly difficult to use as appliances began to fail.
When the timing finally felt right, they were ready to stop making piecemeal updates and rethink the space as a whole.
BeeTree Homes transformed the kitchen and adjoining living area into a modern, open-concept space centered around a large quartz island, warm walnut cabinetry, and upgraded appliances. And when engineering issues and COVID-era supply delays complicated the renovation, our team adapted, worked through the challenges, and kept the homeowners’ vision at the center of every decision.
The result is a kitchen that feels completely different from the one they lived with for years, and a relationship that continued long after the project was complete.

The Challenge: A Kitchen That No Longer Worked
By the time the homeowners were ready to renovate, the kitchen’s shortcomings had become hard to ignore.
The closed-off layout separated the cook from the rest of the family, and the appliances were reaching the end of their useful lives. The range was down to a single working burner, while years of individual replacements had left a mismatched mix of black, white, and stainless finishes.
How They Found BeeTree Homes
The homeowners found us through Houzz and reached out to talk about their renovation. When they met with Katrina, they brought along a photo of a kitchen they loved as inspiration.
Katrina took one look at it and said, “Oh, that’s my kitchen. I did that one.”
The style they were already drawn to was work our team had designed, and they never interviewed anyone else.
The Solution: Opening Up the Kitchen and Living Space
We reworked the relationship between the kitchen and surrounding first-floor spaces to create better flow, stronger sightlines, and a more natural connection between cooking, dining, and relaxing. The design stayed modern and clean, but warm walnut cabinetry and natural finishes kept it inviting.
A Kitchen Built Around the Island
The new quartz island became the centerpiece of the space, adding prep space, cooking functionality, storage, seating, and a natural place to gather.
A More Connected First Floor
Opening the kitchen to the living and dining areas gave the homeowners the connection they had been missing and created longer sightlines through the home.
Warm, Modern Materials
Soft, cool-toned finishes were balanced with walnut cabinetry and natural textures so the space felt contemporary without feeling cold.
Design Details That Stretched the Vision
We also carried the design into the adjoining living area and fireplace wall, introducing finishes the homeowners may not have considered on their own, including wallpaper that quickly won them over.
How We Navigated Challenges During This Jacksonville Kitchen Remodel
With the design direction in place, the next challenge was bringing it to life during an unusually difficult time to remodel.
The project ran into engineering issues that created significant delays, while COVID-era supply disruptions made materials and appliances increasingly unpredictable. One of the biggest hurdles was the refrigerator, which came with an approximately year-and-a-half lead time.
Our job was to keep the project moving without compromising the design the homeowners had waited so long to create. We worked through the engineering issues, advanced other parts of the renovation where we could, and arranged a loaner refrigerator so the homeowners had a functional solution while they waited for their specified appliance to arrive.
There were plenty of variables we could not control. What we could control was how we responded: with communication, problem-solving, and a commitment to protecting the homeowners’ vision through every setback. It was a testament to the benefits of an integrated design-build process.
The Finished Space: A Home That Feels Connected Again
After years of living with a kitchen that felt closed off and outdated, the homeowners finally had a space that worked the way they wanted it to.
The new layout brought the first floor together and changed how they experienced the home day to day. The kitchen became a place to gather, entertain, and stay connected rather than a room that separated people.
A Relationship That Continued Beyond the Remodel
The finished space was only part of this project's success.
After working through engineering issues, long appliance delays, and the challenges of remodeling during COVID, we came out of the process with a strong relationship with the homeowners, and they later invited us back for another project in their home.
For us, that continued trust says a lot. They saw how our team handled both the exciting and difficult parts of the renovation, and they felt confident choosing BeeTree again.

BeeTree did an outstanding job in helping us design and then construct our free standing two car garage. They were very effective in getting the project done within the contract terms. This is a beautiful 24'X24' garage with two wood tone doors, a cupola and weathervane. It is serviceable and enhances the beauty of our property.

The entire BeeTree Homes team is amazing! They are able to understand exactly what you are looking for in a residential remodeling project and turn it into reality. Just amazing!

After interviewing several GCs about a adding a sunroom & home gym to my 1940's house, I selected BeeTree Homes because of their reputation, great communication, and their process. The contract had very specific milestones, but also allowed for changes and adjustments along the way, which was great because I ended up adding /changing a couple of things once we got started. Were there challenges? Yes, especially with the weather, but nothing directly related to BeeTree's performance.
Their project foreman, Aaron, did a great job of keeping me informed about timelines, which crews would be working on specific days, and how much noise to expect so I could plan accordingly. He was also very prompt and always took time to answer my questions. However, the best part of this entire project was the end result... everything we discussed from the inital interview through the design phase and architectural drawings became a reality! And I am 100% happy!

Bee Tree has provided awesome service to us, both in re-designing our home, as well as having reliable and excellent subcontractors to complete the work. We highly recommend them.

We chose not to partner with Beetree back in 2016 and it was a big mistake.
The 2nd renovation we wised up and went with them and it was an amazing experience. Everything from start to finish was exactly as they had said it would be and the finished product was truly amazing. Katrina and Chuck are a couple who builds their lives and their business around Faith and their integrity and professionalism show clearly who their hearts are anchored to.
Choose Beetree and relax and let them handle everything for you.

I was completely impressed with the remodel of my bathroom through BeeTree Homes. Katrina Hosea and Cindy Baker were amazing to work with. They helped me design an amazing bathroom that I love, all while staying in budget. Taking on a remodel project can be overwhelming. They made it easy and I enjoyed the process. Everything went smooth and right on time with no delays. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for knowledgeable people in the industry who actually deliver what they promise.

We inherited a home built in the 1980s. Katrina and crew updated it as if were a brand new home. They worked with us on the design and made many great suggestions we had not considered. The renovation was breathtaking. I'm not saying there wasn't any problems, but they addressed any issues we had right away and to our satisfaction. They also stand behind their work. We ran into some minor issues and they were out promptly to take care of it. My wife and I couldn't be more pleased with BeeTree's professionalism and quality of their materials, and work. I can't recommend them highly enough!

Thank you Katrina and team for transforming my 1949 beach bungalow!! When I bought the house, I saw the potential. After three other contractors told me I couldn't open up the space like I hoped to, I found Katrina/BeeTree Homes. There were compromises and struggles - like with any major undertaking; however I can honestly say that at the end of the day my vision was achieved. Thank you Katrina, Cindy, Dean and Morgan. Anyone who sees the before and after pictures are wowed with the transformation. I feel so blessed. The house I bought is now my home.

We were truly delighted with BeeTree for their integrity, professionalism, quality of work, and overall value. The help we received with budgeting, design, and selection made a tremendous difference in how our house looks today. Only subcontractors whose work reflects the standard BeeTree sets for excellence were selected. The best decision we made was choosing Katrina and her team to do the complete redesign/rebuild of our home.
